Three companies have been ordered to pay a combined number of $2.5 million to luxury retailers Louis Vuitton and Burberry for selling knock-offs with their high-end purses, in what's being hailed as the largest counterfeiting judgment in Canadian history.
Vancouver-based companies Singga Enterprises Inc. and Carnation Fashion Company, together with Altec Productions of Toronto, were accused of manufacturing and selling handbags featuring the company's trademarked logos, including the Louis Vuitton ¡®LV' fleur monogram print, and Burberry signature brown and red check.
Federal Court Judge James Russell concluded that all of the defendants knowingly stole the signatures of the brands, importing great quantities of the accessories from China and selling them over a span of many years
LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton SA, the producer of Celine handbags and TAG Heuer watches, sees no sign of a slowdown in demand for luxury goods after reporting first- half profit that beat analysts' estimates.

Know this is a seriously stupid question and probably common knowledge, but I really don't know whether or not people were making knock-offs in the 80's or how common it was. I'm asking because I found this gorgeous "Fendi" bag at an old-fashioned store. The employee didn't know if it's real or not, but she said the one who sold ito the store said it was from the 80's.
Also, the bag is very scuffed and one thread is lose, but I figure if it's actually from the 80's, the quality is probably due to the age of the bag. The rest of the bag appears to be in good shape, though. I'm familiar with how you can tell whether or not a Chanel or Louis is fake, but I have no clue when it comes to Fendi haha.
