Kate Spade New York is coming to the Country Club Plaza.
The retailer will require a 1,490-square-foot space at 321 Nichols Road for a Sept. 22 opening. Its shops sell items including handbags, clothing, jewelry, shoes, stationery, eyewear and hosiery.
The brand began when Kansas City-born designer Kate Brosnahan developed a sleek handbag that became a phenomenon in the fashion industry.
Liz Claiborne bought the brand in 2007, and there are now 36 Kate Spade stores across the United States and more than a hundred stores overseas.
Kate Spade New York is going to be next to Michael Kors, which promises to open this fall. The two stores will be part of the former Eddie Bauer space. Eddie Bauer moved one block west to 440 Nichols Road.
